Description
As a healthcare professional and someone living with Parkinson’s herself, Monique hears about, and experiences firsthand the impact this condition has on intimate relationships. The many symptoms can make being intimate and having sex more challenging, often placing additional strain on relationships. Fortunately, there are solutions. In this book, you’ll find answers to the following questions: What’s going on? What’s to be done? What’s to be avoided?
Monique combines professional expertise with personal experience, making her advice both practical and authentic. This book is written for people with Parkinson’s, their partners, and healthcare professionals. What makes this handbook unique is its tone of empowerment. It encourages open conversations and offers a roadmap for rediscovering intimacy and connection. Through the many personal stories and anecdotes, the content becomes deeply relatable and recognisable.
About the author
Monique Thoonsen holds degrees in physical therapy and pedagogy. She specialized in sensory stimulus processing. She wrote several books on this subject: the Wiebelen en friemelen series. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2021.
As a healthcare professional by experience, she now supervises teams supporting people with Parkinson’s. Soon she noticed that many people lack knowledge about the possible symptoms in Parkinson’s. She decided to list all the symptoms in a clear way, all with practical tips. Also take a look at www.parkinsonbasics.com
